Use the Google index checker tool to see if a web page is indexed within Googles search engine results. If you don't get any results, then the web page you search for is most likely not indexed within Googles search engine results so it's possible that people won't be able to find it.

1. Create your page using the right standards. 

If you meet the standards proposed by W3C on the type of document you want to use (HTML 4, 5, XHTML 1, 1.1, Transitional or Strict), you will get search engines to better understand the content and structure of the page. In addition, making pages complying with standards ensures that as browsers improve with this theme, your page looks the same in all browsers. 

2. Make your page accessible. 

Accessibility is the ability of your page to be used by all people. It is true that a search engine will give you the same if the contrast is high or not between the source and the background, but not what it will not give you the same as if you put alternative texts to the images, titles to the links, and documents the relationship of the links with the page you are creating. 

3. Reduce the use of Flash to a minimum. 

Search engines are not able to understand a Flash object or its content. It is true that Google begins to read the content of Flash files and that Adobe is making it easier every time for this to be done by all browsers, but today, things are very limited. 5. Use meta tags to inform Google about the content of your pages, but yes, beware that there are meta tags that are not standard and therefore will not help you.

6. Meta tags must be different on each page. Do not put the same keywords, or description, or title on all pages that make up your website.

7. The title is one of the most important parts of a website, and is what usually appears in the search results. Do not repeat titles and think carefully using the keywords you want to be found for.

8. Make your pages light. Search engines discard visiting excessively heavy pages and love pages that load fast.

9. Separate the appearance completely from the structure of the page. To create the structure of the page, HTML is used, CSS is used for the appearance, for Javascript (or other technology) interactivity. Do not put everything in the same file. Everything well separated.

10. Minimize the use of Javascript and Ajax. The search engines will not be able to reach the contents that are only accessible through the use of Javascript.

11. If your project requires the use of Ajax To, for example, refresh a list of search results, make those results also accessible in another way, such as a page with a list, using sitemaps, both visual and in XML.

12. Do not use swarms of links (pages with thousands of links) to get links to your website. Google may penalize you.

14. Avoid duplicate content. 

Making the URL friendly is an indispensable task, but it has a congenital problem: the possibility that infinite URLs lead to the same content. This is a problem. Google may think that you are doing some type of spam or that you have duplicate content. In addition, scattered the possibility of increasing the PageRank of that page in question. You must put mechanisms so that if someone modifies the URL, it autocrosses and goes to the correct address. (Redirection 301).

15. Canonize the URL. 

For Google it is different to look at and without the www. This is another duplicate content problem. You can access the same information with the www that without them. Either by programming or using the .htaccess file, you must choose a form and force that if someone goes to the one you did not choose, it will be automatically changed. For example, you decide that the correct form is, because if someone types in the browser, this address must be automatically replaced by (Redirection 301).

16. Use Redirects. 

If your project is underway and you want to apply some of the techniques mentioned here, what you should not do is delete the old addresses. What you should do is that if someone types the address of a certain page which you now want to be accessed in another direction, you should detect that behavior and send a 301 redirect. This is to try to make the PageRank that you see the old page fluctuate towards the new page.

17. Have as much original content as possible, that is, that is not on other websites. A page that writes its own content, with its own texts and also, this one is quite exclusive, it will have better PageRank. Why? Google has caught up with the subject of blogs and knows that many copy the same news as is. If your page is growing and has little or no PageRank, this can hurt you a lot. In addition, if a visitor observes that you copy/paste news from other sites on your site, it usually keeps the sites it already knows.

18. Pages designed for printing can produce duplicate content. Many times we are forced to have to prepare a different page to the page that the visitor is viewing so that it can be printed. This case is very typical of product sales and news pages. If Google enters these pages and considers that it may be duplicate content, you may be penalized. If it is accessed through an HTML link, solving this problem is as simple as putting the attribute rel the nofollow text. This tells search engines that they should not follow that link and should ignore it.

19. Do not make bad practices how to show different information if the visitor is a search engine or a normal visitor. If Google detects it, it may give you a good penalty. There are sites that can do so since there is a "justification". Some very large newspapers are not penalized for using this technique. Why use it? They are the type of media you must pay to see content, but if you do the search they appear in Google.

20. Try to see as much text as possible. Google already understands the CSS files and knows how to interpret that a div is visible or not, that the text and the color of the div are the same, that they have certain techniques to camouflage the div, ... All this may cause Google to penalize you (in the case of bad arts) or not of priority to the texts that are hidden (either because with javascript we will show them, for example, as tabs).

21. Write the text thinking that the most important thing is in the first lines. The search engines give priority to the texts that are indexed, with the first lines being the best indexed.

22. Use Google's Webmaster Tools, such as Sitemap or Google Analytics. Some people think that using the statistics tool accelerates the indexing process and also improves the depth and is somewhat of a Google indexing tool.

23. Quality of links. It is not so much the question of the number of links that there are pointing towards your page, but of the quality. It is much better to have few links but on pages with high PageRank. That PageRank will affect the PR of your page.
